The Truth About Hair Loss

Posted by Karren Edwards on March 9th, 2010

Each hair strand endures for an average of 4.5 years, after which the hair falls out and is replaced in 6 months by a new strand of hair. Each month, it grows about half an inch. “Hair loss” or baldness is a situation when the body stops to grow new hairs - and not literally due to hair loss.

Hair loss is due to various factors such as aging, heredity and testosterone. Normally, men and women lose hair thickness as they age. Genetic baldness hits more men than women. Men, however, who do not produce testosterone do not develop baldness patterns. Meanwhile, women develop a hair loss due to genetics, age and pregnancy. Sometimes, sudden physical or emotional tension could lead one to lose half of the hair throughout the scalp. The hair shedding will reside only after 6 to 8 months. This tension could be caused by bad infections, childbirth, major illnesses, severe emotional stress, medications and crash dieting.

There are some women between the age of 30 and 60 years that may observe that their hair is thinning out. Many have reported that this hair loss begins heavy, with much of strands stuck in combs or dropping out in showers but will bit by bit minimize as they get older. There is still no known reason for this type of hair loss. Hair loss which results from menopause or childbirth normally returns to normal within 6 months to 2 years.

If you, however, had a hair loss because of radiation therapy or other illnesses, treatment is not needed. Your hair will naturally grow back until your body returns to its normal state.

Women who love hair pieces should refrain from suturing the hair accessories to the scalp as it runs the risk of scars and infection. For unexplained and excessive hair loss, it is safest to see a doctor.

Outdoor Painting And Sprucing Up In The Spring

Posted by Nathan William Holding on March 9th, 2010

Are you thinking of exterior painting and decorating this spring like most people? Unfortunately, not everyone knows how to do it properly, that is, both decorating and painting. While there are some people that know exactly what they are doing, others are a little overwhelmed by the various steps involved and the choices. Proper procedures and decisions are both required for a successful result, without wasting money.

In terms of painting your wooden exterior of your home, the number one priority is the preparation. There are many steps that need to be completed before a drop of paint can be brushed on. For starters, you must sand the surface thoroughly.

So, youll need the right tools. If you have a large job, it would be advisable to either purchase a power tool or to rent one. Try to figure out how much time its going to take to complete this task. If it is a big job, it may be worth your while to buy it.

You will also come across some areas that have peeled paint. These areas need to have the paint scraped off and then sanded down. Once all this is done, washing the surface is very important. Its probably best to use a pressure washer. This way, all the particles from sanding and pieces of paint that are stuck to the surface will be washed away. Its important to work from the top down. Afterward, allow the area to dry thoroughly.

Its best to use a good-quality primer. This will ensure that the paint will adhere properly and make it last longer. In addition to that, its also a good way to save money. Primer is cheaper than top coat or undercoat paint is. Wood is very porous, therefore it will absorb the paint very quickly. Then you will need to add more and more paint. However, a primer will avoid you from wasting the paint.

Make sure you follow the directions according to the particular paint manufacturers. You will see that they suggest sealing the wood afterward. This will only provide you with longer lasting results. Any way you want to look at it, this can be a tiring and tedious job, especially if your entire home is made of wood. So, you want to do it right and avoid having to do this every year.

Instead of waiting for your job to become huge, inspect your home regularly. At the beginning of the spring and the fall, just look around to see if theres any problems. If you spot any peeling paint, simply fix it straight away. If you allow it to continue, it will only worsen the situation.

Regardless of what the job may be, maintaining something is always recommended to fixing something on a bigger scale. For instance, an oil change on your car will avoid damage to your engine. Neglecting to change the oil on a regular basis will only cause you bigger problems down the line. The same is true for your home. Wood that is left unprotected will lead to huge damages in warping, to the point where it will have to be replaced.

If you are thinking of exterior paintin and decorating this spring, you will need a little bit of advice. The fact is, any type of decorating does not come easy to a lot of individuals. More info on Sash window repair company and exterior decorators London .

New England Wraps Up NFL Preseason With Win Over NY Giants

Posted by Ross Everett on March 8th, 2010

Undrafted Brian Hover played the entire game for the Patriots and may have earned himself a position as Tom Brady’s backup with a solid all around performance as New England topped the New York Giants 38-27 in the NFL preseason finale for both clubs. Hover passed for 242 yards and no interceptions on 18 of 25 passing. The Patriots finished their NFL preseason slate at 3-1, while the Giants slumped to a 1-3 mark in exhibition play.

NFL football betting enthusiasts who took New England as +3 road underdogs cashed their tickets with the outright win. The Patriots evened their preseason ATS mark at 2-2, while the Giants dropped to 1-3 against the number. New York won and covered their first game of the preseason before dropping the next three straight up and against the spread.

A free agent pickup out of Michigan State, Hover threw for one touchdown and led three more long drives that culminated in paydirt. BenJarvus Green-Ellis rushed for three touchdowns and after the game praised Hovers play:

“Brian did a good job of controlling our offense. We mixed it up.”

Green-Ellis had an impressive game himself, with 125 yards on 29 carries. Afterwards, Patriots coach Bill Belichick had terse but positive comments about his play:

“Ben does a lot of things for us going back to last year.

As well as that of QB Hover:

“Not bad. He handled the ball fairly well, threw it accurately.”

The Giants biggest personnel decision at the moment is their third string QB, where Andre Woodson went 6 for 19 for 98 yards with one interception. Afterwards, he gave his take on the game:

“It took me a while to get into my rhythm and it was the worst possible game to have that happen. Last year I knew I was going to be cut. … This year is different. It’s going to be tense.”

Starting QB Eli Manning played one series and backup David Carr played three before handing the reins over to Woodson for the rest of the game. Afterwards, Manning summed up his teams mindset:

“I think everyone is ready for the season to get going and start playing for real.

The Giants will start playing for real next Sunday as they host the Washington Redskins in a NFC East battle. Theyll head to Dallas in week two for another divisional tilt against the Cowboys. The Patriots will start their regular season next Monday night as they host the Buffalo Bills.

Private Pilot Tips - Having Trouble With Motion Sickness?

Posted by Bruce Hogan on March 7th, 2010

It’s almost humorous to see a pilot student who has absolutely no fear of being up in the air at all and yet the motion creates nausea to the point of being sick to their stomach. This becomes most devastating and frustrating for the young students as they find it most difficult to be able to concentrate on what they have to do while in the air and yet still control themselves from being sick to their stomach.

It is no different than any other type of motion sickness and there are several things that can be done about it. If the individual knows that they have a tendency to be sick when it comes to motion then they could even discuss this with their family physician to see what could be taken safely to help control it.

It goes without saying that no drugs, whether prescription or over-the-counter to control motion sickness that has any side effects could be used. One of the drawbacks of using this type of medication is quite often it makes the individual drowsy. It is critical that the student pilot be totally alert. Even the aftermath from taking this type of medication can have its effects. there’s a couple of things that one can do though that will perhaps help.

One of the best solutions of course is not to be partying the night before your flight. The very fact of being hung over and having motion sickness together must be the most devastating feeling one could have.

There are some individuals that have tried acupressure and find that it works really well then there are a lot of Chinese herbs as well that are excellent for motion sickness. These are totally safe to take and have no side effects to them.

One may also want to try drinking cold water in small amounts when this happens. Another excellent drink to take is a little bit of ginger and water as this has a great effect on settling the stomach down. The same with eating crackers prior to the flight will help.

Many pilots that suffer for motion sickness feel that if they don’t eat before a flight it will better for them. The problem is this may stop the vomiting, but it certainly doesn’t stop the nausea and it interferes with the concentration.

The deep breathing exercises also help as well to soothe the stomach. Some individuals even suggest that this could be a psychological condition and self-help hypnosis is an excellent resource. The best thing to do is to try all the different ways that are available until you can find one that works specifically for you.

If this seems to be a serious problem than what you might want to do is discuss it with your flight instructor. There is no doubt that they have had a multitude of other students going through the same thing you are and they may be able to give you some good advice.

The Poker Club as an Aesthetic Experience

Posted by Tom Kearns on March 6th, 2010

Poker is rich in aesthetics. The enormously popular game developed over the centuries into an exquisite form of intellectual art. It has accumulated not only distinctive rules, but long-standing traditions. A genuine poker player is there not merely to spend some time away from his work or family. A genuine poker player enters the establishment and sits down at the table with a keen sense of poker as profession and of the profession as a complex and noble tradition. The game is elevated from mere week-end pass time for the rich to an intense imaginative experience.

No Casino is without several standard variants of poker, but casinos, one should realize, are primarily businesses where poker is only one of a many popular attractions. It may sound as snobbish nonsense, but if you are an aesthete in any other field - and you probably are, however slightly, even if only, perhaps, in respect to Single Malt Scotch or Woody Allen Comedies - you should understand the devoted poker player’s preference for a specialized poker club.

The atmosphere of a well-made a club is immersing; the dealers are on friendlier, more personal as well as respectful terms with you; there is greater intimacy, if desirable, with regular players, which heightens the experience of any single game. Picture expensive cigar smoke in wreathes over velvet-shod tables, listen to the ice tinkling in the Laphroaig whisky glass across the room.

A club can be put together rather easily. You must decide first on the purpose of the club. Is it to be a casual place for friends to hang or a more formal one where local experts can gather to play. For the casual place, all you need is a nice room of the right size, a poker table or two, some dice, chips and a few decks of cards.

For the more serious, formal club, location is very important. A place near the city center can be a good choice because it will attract people to come in, but it must be in a quiet place to prevent distraction. Almost anyone can get downtown, but no poker player will tolerate a high level of noise.

For the new poker club owner, since the game has an illustrious history, this aspect of it should be enhanced in the design. Something akin to historical tradition but with some modern touches to keep it from getting stuffy. Avoid any notion of a “theme” club…way to Disneyesque. Pay attention to factors like noise, color, and light pollution - all are distracting for the player whether amateur or professional. Everything should be slightly muted, exuberance is not what you are after.

No matter if you manage the club yourself or choose to hire one, stay on top of things to ensure your place is operating honestly and responsibly always and that any inharmonious behavior is quickly and discretely rectified. The manager must be a poker aesthete himself, not just any kind of manager. The dealers must be personable, presentable and have a deep understanding of the art of customer service.

Purchase the club’s furnishings for durability as well as aesthetics. Plan a small space for a lounge where players can take a break and relax with other players to share experiences and indulge in a toddy or a pipe. Make it comfortable with air conditioning and a full bar with an experienced, professional bartender. The truly traditional and noble poker game requires traditional and noble liquor and tobacco for a complete experience.

The author is a successful limit cash game player. He plays poker online and receives Betfair Rakeback as well as Rakeback at Ultimate Bet.

Finding The Right Drug Rehab Program

Posted by Saisha Jones on March 5th, 2010

Drug addiction is typically caused by deep seeded emotional problems that exist from past trauma. People use drugs to numb the pain. Feelings of guilt and shame are masked by drug and alcohol use. A vicious addiction cycle occurs because the behaviors and associations that go along with drug use only cause more guilt and shame.

The second step of the addiction recovery process is getting to the root of these issues, changing behaviors, and building self-esteem. Many people find salvation in drug rehab and support groups. Drug rehabilitation programs have helped millions of people free themselves of drug addiction. Sobriety is achievable.

There is help out there. It just comes down to which drug rehab option is best for the individual. Don’t let drug addiction cast a shadow over your family any more. Addiction festers in the darkness and secrecy. Bring the problem out into the open. Discuss the drug treatment options with your whole family.

Finding the right treatment and recovery program or rehab center is a daunting enough task, but the real challenge is that the individual must first admit that they do have a problem with alcohol abuse. Not only that, but once the admission has been made, the individual is further challenged by having to make the commitment to do something about it and seek help for their addiction.

In many circumstances, a family intervention, conducted by an addiction counselor and having family members and the individual’s close friends in attendance, may be necessary. This can have both negative as well as positive results.

The positive results that people hope to achieve by holding an intervention are that the individual admits having a problem and then seeks help immediately. The negative results could range from the individual being angered, exhibiting an abusive or violent reaction, or just angrily leaving the meeting.

If you have or have had an addiction, or have lived with someone who does, you know the pain that it causes. It is not uncommon for the addict to die in some instances, but what is so tragic is that they typically drag their family members and friends down with them. There are two immediate challenges that the drug addicted individual must face. The first is admitting that they do have a problem, which is a difficult enough task as it is.

However, it is the decision to do something about it and go get help for that drug addiction that becomes the most challenging task for the individual suffering with an addiction. The key is that if the individual has any hope of being treated and recovering successfully, they have to remain honest to themselves during the entire process.

Cure yourself with teen substance abuse rehab . You can gain the benefits of body dysmorphic disorder .

The Joy Of Collecting Recipes

Posted by Adriana Noton on March 5th, 2010

Recipes are used for making that special dish for the first time, enhancing a meal that you have made many times but now want to change, or for just adding to a marvelous collection of ideas for meals for the future.

A recipe can consist of only two ingredients or so many you cannot even fit them on your countertop. It can be as simple as simply stirring, or very complex, like dredging in flour, then dipping into a beaten egg, then covering with bread crumbs, quick-frying and then finally baking the port chop. Yes, for a simple port chop. But many times you will find that the more effort you put forth in preparing the meal, the better it tastes in the end.

Most cooks have several very important ingredients that are put in almost every dinner recipe they make. These may be onions and garlic. Or perhaps herbs like thyme and basil, or a combination of Italian seasonings. This same cook may also have ingredients in the cupboard that he or she bought for one special meal on an occasion, and it has been sitting in that cupboard ever since. This might be liquid smoke, or fenugreek.

Perhaps the greatest experiments with recipes are those from other countries. You can try something Greek, like moussaka, or Italian, like lasagna, or East Indian, like lamb korma, or Mexican, like carne asada tacos.

You will find that the main difference between the different ones of various countries is the spices they use. In Greece, they use a lot of cinnamon on their meat to sweeten it up. Italians like their tomato sauced spiced up with oregano, basil, and thyme, among other spices. In India, the use of turmeric, cumin and coriander go far. Mexicans use a lot of cayenne and chili powder. And the list goes on.

You will discover that the joy of collecting healthy recipes will easily take over your book shelves. You will have recipe books on fish, steak, potatoes, desserts, casserole dishes, meatless meals, poultry, crepes, Christmas, and wok cooking, to name a few. Then there are the recipe magazines that will overwhelm you. And do not forget about the recipes you cut out from the newspaper, because you know you are going to try them some day.

You can stumble on collections in thrift shops. These are from clubs that people were members of and received them monthly and put them in binders. Or you will run across other types of collections that resemble a set of encyclopedias. There are annual collection recipe books for the year. And you would not want to pas up some of those really old cook books. They usually have a couple of really great classic formulas that you thought you would never find. Then there is the kind of collection that can drive a cook crazy, when they put them all in the index box. The best thing about these 4×6 inch cards is that you do not have to mess with a book closing on you while cooking.

Yes, you can collect recipes your whole life, fill an entire room with recipes. But the best cooks in the world do not even use them.

Healthy food can be hard to find these days. Eggs are very healthy and nutritious for breakfasts, and are extremely easy to prepare, especially with these online healthy recipes.

Studying for the Microsoft MCSA - Update

Posted by Jason Kendall on March 4th, 2010

For anyone interested in an MCSA study program, be aware that training varies from company to company; some are much better than others. You’ll come across a selection of programs, both if you’re new to network support, or a professional ready to polish up your CV.

Each scenario should have a specialised course, so verify that you’re on the right one prior to making a start. Find a training company that has the courtesy to get to know what you’re trying to achieve, and will work with you to sort out what you’ll be doing, well before they start talking about courses.

Have you recently questioned your job security? Typically, this only rears its head when something goes wrong. But really, the reality is that true job security is a thing of the past, for nearly everyone now.

Of course, a quickly growing market-place, where staff are in constant demand (because of a growing shortage of properly qualified professionals), opens the possibility of proper job security.

Taking a look at the Information Technology (IT) market, the recent e-Skills survey highlighted a more than 26 percent skills deficit. To put it another way, this highlights that the country is only able to source three properly accredited workers for each 4 job positions that are available at the moment.

This troubling certainty underpins the urgent need for more commercially certified IT professionals throughout the UK.

We can’t imagine if a better time or market state of affairs will exist for acquiring training in this rapidly increasing and developing business.

Sometimes, people don’t comprehend what information technology can do for us. It is stimulating, innovative, and means you’re a part of the huge progress of technology that will affect us all over the next generation.

Computing technology and interaction on the web will dramatically affect the direction of our lives in the future; incredibly so.

If money is up there on your wish list, then you will welcome the news that the regular income of IT employees in general is considerably higher than salaries in much of the rest of industry.

Because the IT market sector is still developing year on year, it’s looking good that demand for appropriately qualified IT professionals will flourish for quite some time to come.

We can see an excess of employment in computing. Arriving at the correct choice out of this complexity is a mammoth decision.

What chances do most of us have of understanding the tasks faced daily in an IT career when it’s an alien environment to us? We normally have never met anyone who performs the role either.

The key to answering this quandary correctly flows from an in-depth chat, covering several areas:

* The kind of person you are - what kind of jobs you enjoy doing, and don’t forget - what you definitely don’t enjoy.

* Is it your desire to accomplish an important objective - for instance, working for yourself someday?

* Your earning requirements that guide you?

* Considering the huge variation that IT encompasses, it’s important to be able to understand the differences.

* You should also think long and hard about the amount of time and effort you’re going to give to your training.

To bypass the barrage of jargon, and reveal the most viable option for your success, have a good talk with an experienced professional; someone that appreciates and can explain the commercial realities whilst covering each qualification.

A valuable package of training should also offer accredited exam simulation and preparation packages.

Some students can get thrown by practising exam questions that are not from official sources. Sometimes, the phraseology can be quite different and you need to be ready for this.

For many reasons, it is vital to be confident that you’ve thoroughly prepared for your commercial exam before embarking on it. Revising simulated tests logs the information in your brain and will avoid you getting frustrated with unsuccessful attempts at exams.
